The mission of the AIDS Research and Treatment Center of the Treasure Coast (ARTCTC) is to provide comprehensive and compassionate medical care to people living with HIV infection and AIDS in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee Counties.  In addition to providing medical care, ARTCTC also provides access to food, clothing, transportation, patient/family support groups, and nutritional counseling.  ARTCTC has ongoing community outreach for AIDS education and testing and is a Florida State certified HIV testing site.  Patients are also given the opportunity to participate in studies involving new treatments for HIV and AIDS.

ARTCTC was founded in 1995 by Gerald Pierone, Jr. M.D. and is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization.  Our medical clinic currently provides primary health care for over 500 HIV positive patients.  Our agency is committed to providing high quality, centralized, comprehensive services to adults infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.  Our mission also includes efforts to prevent transmission of HIV infection among our patients, their families, and our community and assist in the early detection and care of those already infected.

ARTCTC has participated in a collaborative network of community based partners that work together to coordinate delivery of HIV prevention and early intervention services to high-risk members of the community.  Our agency is recognized as a regional expert by our Ryan White Title II Fiscal Agent, Treasure Coast Health Council, and by our Title III collaborative partner, the St. Lucie County Health Department.

ARTCTC is constantly battling the ever rising costs of HIV/AIDS health care.  As we fight the spread of HIV/AIDS we are diligently searching for new funding sources. We have received several HIV/AIDS grants and have pending applications for others.  However, we have ongoing challenges meeting the needs of our expanding patient base and require additional financial assistance in advancing our efforts.
